Abstract

Nucleation and interfacial coupling between pure and dirty superfluid phases of 3He were studied by performing both primary and secondary nucleation experiments. Nucleation of the B phase of superfluid 3He was compared to a dirty superfluid formed in an aerogel matrix. The proximity effect at the interface of pure and dirty superfluids were found to be insufficient to nucleate the B phase.
