Abstract
The dynamics of rotationally broad, spatially aligned superposition states, produced through the sequential exchange of angular momentum quanta between a material system and a moderately intense laser field, was explored. A numerical study not only quantified the notion of adiabatic and sudden alignment, but also illustrated the behavior of the post-pulse alignment subsequent to slow turn-on and rapid turn-off of the laser pulse.
