Abstract

A linear stability analysis is carried out for the cellular instability of a nonadiabatic downward-propagating premixed flame. It is shown that if the molecular weight of the deficient reactant is sufficiently small, then an increase in heat loss may lead to destabilization of an adiabatically stable flame (i. e. , a flame which is stable in the absence of heat losses).
