Abstract
The growing obesity epidemic has resulted in increasing numbers of obese women requiring obstetric care and presenting unique challenges for their medical care providers. 1-5 Of particular concern is the increased rate of cesarean delivery in obese compared with nonobese patients. 6 The presence of obesity may help explain a portion of the rising rates of cesarean deliveries observed in industrialized societies.
