Abstract

The theory of atmospheric turbulence and the Rytov method are used to give a complete treatment of the statistical properties of a pulse-wavefield in a turbulent atmosphere where the refractive index varies randomly. The mean square amplitude and phase fluctuations are obtained in terms of the spectral representation for homogeneous and isotropic media. Results are compared with available laser beam data.
