Abstract

Controversy exists regarding the need for and appropriate form of notes addended to cervical cytology reports. The Guidelines Task Force of the Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology reviewed the pertinent literature and formulated a list of suggested guidelines to aid practicing cytopathologists in conforming to the National Cancer Institute Bethesda Workshop's consensus recommendations and to fill the requirements of the College of American Pathologists inspections.
