Abstract

The paper presents a comparative analysis of 3-D surface characteristics evaluated by conventional procedures and by a newly proposed method that utilizes two dimensional Autoregressive (AR) models. To illustrate the proposed methods 3-D measurements from a planar ground surface were used. The parameters calculated directly from the AR model and from a surface synthesized by using this model were shown to be in good agreement with the parameters directly evaluated from the measurements by the conventional procedures.
