This review does not deal with vestibulo-ocular reflexes but only with the various steps involved in the production of vestibulospinal reflexes. These steps include the responses of primary vestibular afferent fibers, the processing of vestibular information in the brain, and activity of the vestibulospinal tracts. Particular emphasis is placed on how afferent input is processed to produce appropriate reflex responses. (116 references.)
