Abstract

Considerable interest has been shown in recent years towards utilizing semiconductor particles as photocatalysts in the degradation of harmful organic contaminants such as aromatic and haloaromatic compounds. Considering these classes of compounds, and in particular, using 4chlorophenol as a model compound and TiO2 semiconductor as a photocatalyst, we have addressed various parameters that influence photocatalytic degradation reactions. Effort has also been made to highlight potentially important areas of research that could overcome the factors limiting efficiency.
