Abstract

A way to measure the pinning force was introduced in order to characterize the attraction of a vortex to an obstacle. It was shown that the pinning force has been estimated in the simple RGLE model, as well as in a model of excitable media. The dependence of the force on the size of the defect was also characterized. It was obsersed that the results obtained for the RGLE and for excitable obstacles were qualitatively very similar.
