Abstract

Despite technical improvements in thoracic surgery locally advanced (stage III) non small cells lung cancer is still a vexing clinical problem. Indeed, results after surgical treatment alone are unsatisfactory with 5 years survival rates between 10 and 25%. Induction treatments, including chemo- and radiochemo-therapy followed by surgical resection, have been progressively developed in order to improve outcome in these patients. Promising results have been reported after this kind of treatments. This article focuses on the results of this multidisciplinary approach.
