PMD Emulation with Importance Sampling and Maxwellian Length Sections

Abstract

We describe the application of importance sampling to PMD emulators consisting of a concatenation of birefringent sections with Maxwellian-distributed lengths. Use of this scheme offers significant advantages over emulators with fixed-length sections.
