Abstract

Polarity inversion was addressed by assessing the growth of CdTe on Sb(Bi)/CdTe(111)B. Based on experimental and first principles band structure data for CdTe(111)/Sb(Bi)/CdTe(111) systems, it was demonstrated that the polarity of a polar material on a nonpolar one is determined from the binding energy difference between the two possible surface configurations.
