Abstract

Polarized single-crystal specular reflectance spectra and their Kramers-Kronig transformations of Ni(pc)I and Co(pc)I show new results in both the visible and ultraviolet needle axis polarizations. The previously assigned I3 -transition at 20 000 cm-1appears to be nearly covering an a1g(dz2) a2u(π*) transition in both compounds, which is of interest in interpreting electrical conducting mechanisms in this class of compounds. An additional transition at ~35 000–40000 cm-1has been assigned as b2u(π) → b2g(dx2_y2) in both compounds.
