Abstract

The compatibilization of an immiscible blend achieved through the addition of gradient copolymer during melt processing was investigated. It was shown that the coarsening can be eliminated upon melt mixing by addition of gradient copolymer to the blend. The copolymers were characaterized after several cycles of dissolution with tetrahydrofuran. The results shows that the compatibilization of melt-processes polymer blends depends significantly on the overall composition of gradient copolymer and the inherent incompatibility of the blends.
