Abstract

The parameters and reaction scope for the cyclopolymerization of 1,6-heptadiyne by dicationic Pd(II) complexes in the presence of either phosphine or imine ligands are studied. This polymerization reaction is quite interesting due to the low polydispersity of the resulting oligomers and the molecular weight-self-limiting nature of the propagating species. This chemistry includes monosubstituted acetylenes. Results from the mechanistics studies are presented. Detailed structural analysis of the poly(1,6-heptadiyne) cyclopolymers and poly(1-alkynes) polymers is also discussed.
