Abstract

Noninvasive positive airway pressure (PAP) serves as a cornerstone of therapy for patients with obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS). This chapter reviews the mechanical devices and associated durable medical equipment used to provide PAP therapy. The most commonly encountered modes of ventilation are also reviewed with specific attention paid to their role in treating the various pathologic processes at play in OHS.
