Abstract

An improved prediction model for shrinkage is proposed. The main features are (1) diffusion-type size dependence for humidity effects, (2) initial and final asymptotic forms of the shrinkage curve determined from diffusion theory and (3) the activation energy concept for thermal effects. Nonlinear optimization techniques are used to obtain the parameters of formulas. Verification by comparisons with data in the literature will follow in a detailed journal version of the paper.
