Preliminary crystallographic study of a retroviral protease

Abstract

Crystals of Rous sarcoma virus protease, suitable for X-ray structural analysis, were obtained by the method of vapor diffusion using ammonium sulfate as the precipitant. The protease crystallized in the space group P3121 (a = b = 88.8 A ̊, c = 78.8 A ̊) with two molecules in the asymmetric unit. Native data have been collected to 2.5$ ̊A resolution, and the search for heavy-atom derivatives is in progress.
