Abstract

Study on single structural member reliability subjected to floor live load processes is extended to include material nonlinearity. A probability distribution model is developed here for the number of loads exceeding a predetermined threshold deformation level. The approach presented here is more direct than the one developed in an earlier study. In addition, this approach reduces the numerical error induced and it can also provide greater flexibility in the evaluation of reliability.
