Abstract
A study of the structural acoustics of an imperfect cylindrical shell submerged in an infinite acoustic medium via probabilistic and reliability analysis is presented. The first order reliability method is used for estimating the reliability of the system. The influence of the imperfection patterns, and its correlation length on the scattered pressure field is investigated in detail. A probabilistic finite element method is also developed for this problem. Numerical results show excellent agreement with those obtained by a perturbation methods.
