Abstract

Chromosomes from new epithelial cells (TVI cell line) grown in a monolayer on a small dish were microdissected. The dynamics of stress relaxation in the microdissected chromosomes was characterized. It was found that mitotic chromosomes quickly stretched display well-defined elastic response with a relaxation time on the second time scale. Further, it was observed that loose loop domains are present in physiological conditions.
