Abstract

A theoretical study of the generation and detection of incoherent squeezed light by optical parametric downconversion of a frequency-doubled Q-switched multimode Nd:YAG laser is presented. The frequency-doubled green light is used to pump an optical parametric amplifier (OPA) for the purpose of generating pulsed squeezed light. The multimode squeezed light generated by the OPA can be shown to have a homodyne detection noise spectrum. The analysis is applicable to the generation of CW mode-locked pulsed squeezed light as a special case, and a parallel study in the time domain has been carried out as well.
