Abstract

Summary form only given, as follows. A general review of quantum communication theory for optical communication applications will be presented, tracing through the early study of quantum channel capacity, quantum detection and estimation, to quantum state optimization and the development of two-photon coherent states or squeezed states. The shift of emphasis from mathematical theory to physics study is discussed. Various impacts of the quantum communication work in physics will also be mentioned.
