Abstract

Nanomechanics deals with the mechanical problems of materials, apparatus and structures at nanometer scale. The nanomechanics rose from the need of nano-technology. An atomistic-based continuum theory is proposed. Some mechanical problems of carbon nanotubes are analysed by use of this theory. The results are compared with those obtained by the molecular dynamics.
