Abstract

An examination is given to nonlinear effects in film rupture. The authors follow previous work by applying to the liquid the Navier-Stokes equations modified by an extra body force as described above. London/van der Waals forces are included but double-layer forces are neglected. A long-wave theory formalized for the nonlinear dynamic instabilities of a static film on a planar solid is given.
