Abstract

Sclerotherapy is the injection of a chemical irritant into small and large venous varicosities to create complete destruction of the vessel wall via irreversible endothelial damage and localized thrombosis. The aim is improved hemodynamics, elimination of symptoms, and achievement of an improved aesthetic result.4 Sclerotherapy is a first-line treatment for small intracutaneous varicosities, and is ideally suited for vessels measuring 0.3mm-0.5 mm.
