Abstract
The structure of screw dislocations in three-dimensional quasicrystals is studied. It is argued that all dislocations in quasicrystals are better viewed as edges of planar, stacking-fault-like defects rather than isolated line defects. Despite this, screw dislocations may still provide a mechanism for spiral growth.
