The conduct of conscious sedation in cardiac patients is particularly challenging in a population with limited physiologic reserves. Nevertheless, sedation and analgesia can provide a safe option when implemented for the appropriate patient and procedure, and heightened vigilance can avert complications from procedures and administered medications.
