Seed-mediated growth of bimetallic prisms

Abstract

A method for preparing silver nanoprisms that relies of the silver prisms as seeds was discussed. The method was a modification of strategy that has been used effectively in making silver nanorods and nanowires. Various aliquots of the as-prepared silver nanoprism seeds were added to growth solutions containing hydrogen tetrachloroaurate trihydrate, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), L-ascorbic acid, and sodium hydroxide. The results show that triangular and corrugated core-shell nanoparticles can by synthesized using a seed-mediated growth approach.
