Abstract
Some generalizations of the classical ruin problem in probability theory are investigated and are applied to analyze the sequential dead-zone limiter detector and the sequential four-level sign detector. The performances of these detectors are then compared to that of the sequential sign detector in terms of the relative efficiency (RE) and the asymptotic relative efficiency (ARE).
