The free energy for a photochemical electron transfer quenching process can be estimated from the singlet energy and reduction potential of the excited state, the oxidation potential of the amine, and the solvent polarity using Weller’s equation [δGet=E*-(Eox-Ered)-(e2 o/εR)].4
