Abstract

Social media is becoming an important communication tool in healthcare not only among providers but also between providers and patients. Healthcare personnel need to be familiar with the types of platforms and safety and privacy concerns, as well as rules governing their use in a healthcare setting. This chapter will provide an overview of social media platforms and some cautions regarding the use of social media in the healthcare environment.
