Abstract

Some thermoelastic stress distributions due to the combined loading of rigid, non-symmetrical, circular punches and an arbitrary steady-state temperature or heat flux are considered for a thick elastic plate. The result is shown to depend upon solutions of uncoupled Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. Approximate results are given for the case of axial symmetry when the radius of the punch is much smaller than the plate thickness.
