Abstract

Felicia D. Henderson began her career as an apprentice on Family Matters and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and went on to write and produce Moesha, Sister, Sister, and Everybody Hates Chris, before turning her attention to television dramas Gossip Girl, Fringe, The Punisher, Empire, and others. She developed, executive produced, and directed the TV series Soul Food for Showtime, the first successful, Black-themed drama in television history. It was nominated for an Emmy for its music and won five NAACP Image Awards, including three for Best Drama Series. Felicia co-created and was the showrunner of The Quad for BET and was the showrunner and head writer of First Kill for Netflix. Felicia has an MBA in corporate finance, an MFA in screenwriting, and a Ph.D. in Media Studies. She is an Associate Professor in Northwestern University’s Department of Radio/Television/Film.
