N2 - Mixed time integration procedures are those in which different time steps and different integrators are used in different parts of the mesh. A rigorous stability analysis is provided for the first time for this type of time integration for first-order semidiscretizations, such as arise in diffusion problems. The stability analysis is verified by some numerical examples.
