Abstract

The problems of shear loading of a crack having a wedge-shaped planform and of a planar, wedge-shaped inclusion are considered. A Green's function formulation is used and the problem of finding the corner stress singularity is reduced to an eigenvalue problem of a simultaneous pair of singular integral equations. For large crack angles the integral equations can be solved and an approximate equation for the eigenvalue derived. The integral equations are solved numerically for the general case.
