Abstract

The problems of shear loading of a crack having a wedge-shaped planform and of a planar, wedge-shaped inclusion are considered. A Green’s function formulation is used and the problem of finding the corner stress singularity is reduced to an eigenvalue problem of a simultaneous pair of singular integral equations. For large crack angles (i.e., a crack with angle nearly 2π) the integral equations can be solved and an approximate equation for the eigenvalue derived. The integral equations are solved numerically for the general case.
