Abstract

The propagation of elastic stress waves in a direction normal to the layering in laminated plates and layered circular cylindrical and spherical structu res is analyzed by means of generalized characteristic equations which are applicable to plane, cylindrical, and spherical geometry. Numerical calculations were carried out for a glass spherical deep- submergence vessel covered with layers of adiprene and subjected to external pressures.
