Abstract

We present a brief overview of studies conducted in the Laboratory of Biophysics of the Cell and Cell Contacts of the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Biophysics, Russian Academy of Sciences. These studies are aimed at the preserving of biodiversity using cryoconservation techniques and methods of developmental biology. The techniques include cryoconservation of the sperm and embryos, nuclear tranpslantation, microinjection of the sperm, obtaining of chimeric embryos, and microsurgical separation of embryos. The laboratory participates in the organization of annual working conferences on conservation of genetic resources and in publication of a periodic series under the same title.
