Abstract

A theoretical and experimental investigation of a water jet impinging on a CO//2 rod has been carried out. A laminar two-fluid axisymmetric flow model was utilized to predict the sublimation rate in the jet impingement region. Good agreement was found at lower jet temperatures; but, at higher jet temperatures, mechanical erosion of the subliming surface was evident.
