Abstract

The specialties of EM and SCC share a common knowledge base and skill set when it comes to management of critically ill and injured patients. Emergency medicine trainees should have the opportunity to train in SCC as per the vision of the founders of CCM. Recent agreements between the ABEM and ABS have made this possible. The SCCPDS has developed curricular recommendations for interested program directors to use as they develop the Supplemental Educational Program in Surgery for Emergency Physicians.
