Abstract

The imidodiphosphinoselenido complexes of V(IV), V(III), and Cr(III), [VO{N(SePPh2)2}2]·CH2Cl2 (1), [V{N(SePPh2)2}3]· CH2Cl2 (2), and [Cr{N(SePPh2)2}3]·CH2Cl2 (3), have been prepared from the reaction between VCl3(THF)3 (1 and 2) or CrCl2 (3) and K[N(SePPh2)2] in CH2Cl2. These compounds have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and spectroscopic techniques as well as by a magnetic susceptibility measurement for 3. In each of these compounds the [N(SePPh2)2]- ligand exhibits an Se, Se′-bonding chelation to the metal center. In 1, two ligands are coordinated to a VO2+ unit to afford a pyramidal environment about V; in 2 and 3, three ligands are coordinated to each metal center to afford an octahedral geometry.
