Abstract

The synthesis and characterization of a new, polymeric, redox-active ligand with switchable binding affinities for transition metals are reported. Polymer 2 is based on p-ferrocenylphenyl acrylate and complexes the (η5-C5Me5)Ru+ fragment. Oxidation of the polymeric ligand changes its binding constant for Ru by over two orders of magnitude.
