Abstract

The synthesis and the X-ray structural analysis of novel pincer and half-pincer silyllithiums: Ar2 (N)(tBu2MeSi)SiLi (Ar(N) = o-dimethylbenzylamine) (2a), Ar2 (N)(tBu)SiLi·Et2O (2b), Me2N(CH2)3(tBuMe2Si)2SiLi (4) and [Ar(N)(tBuMe2Si)2SiLi]4 (8) are presented. These silyllithiums were obtained by metalation of the corresponding silanes with tBuMe2SiLi (for 2a, 2b, 4) and for 8 by consecutive reactions with tBuMe2SiLi and tBu2Hg. In the crystal the pincer silyllithiums 2a and 2b are monomeric. The half-pincer silyllithium 4 is dimeric, and 8 is tetrameric probably due to agostic interactions
