Abstract

Systemic sclerosis or scleroderma is a multisystem, autoimmune disease with prominent fibrotic and vasculopathic features. Clinically, it is associated with high morbidity and mortality, although the disease course can be highly variable. In this chapter, we provide an overview of the current knowledge about the epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, as well as monitoring and treatment strategies of systemic sclerosis.
