Abstract

The current consequences of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) waste are bleak and far reaching, and PVC is incompatible with traditional recycling processes. In recent issues of the Journal of Materials Chemistry A and Nature Chemistry, the groups of Fieser and McNeil, respectively, present complementary approaches to upcycling PVC waste on the basis of tandem catalysis.
