Abstract
The problems of a tensile strip having either a single notch perpendicular to the edge or two notches symmetrically placed is solved. A combined series and integral transform solution is used for the problem formulation and reduction to a Fredholm integral equation is achieved. Stress intensity factor, crack energy, and crack opening displacements are calculated for several values of the ratio of crack length to strip width.
