Abstract

Measurements of both a thermodynamic and kinetic nature establish that an 18-crown-6 derivative incorporating a 'chiral diethyleneglycol' unit in the shape of a 2,5-anhydro-D-mannitol residue forms extremely strong complexes with alkali metal, NH+ 4, and RNH+ 3 ions.
