Abstract
The neutral stability of parametrically excited subharmonic cross-waves in a rectangular tank is studied experimentally. The analysis of the experimental data is based on the appropriately scaled dimensionless variables. The variation of the shape and of the location of the neutral stability curves with the mode number is studied. Certain conclusions are drawn on the basis of the present measurements regarding the relative importance of different damping mechanisms.
